Charges: 10.00am - 12.30pm £1.50 per pupil
10.00am - 2.00pm £2.00 per pupil
All accompanying staff FREE.
If staying until 2.00pm, please bring packed lunches & drinks for
everyone. These may be eaten outside if fine or inside if wet.
PROGRAMME:
a.
Arrival: Coach/mini buses unload outside museum. Public toilets are
next
to the car park opposite the museum. The coach can go back to the
coach park in Minehead.
b. Drill/PT: If dry, 10-15 minutes of gentle exercises in the playground to
demonstrate the Victorian method.
c. Children split into two groups,
Group
1 go into the schoolroom and dress in Victorian clothes.
They are then given a 40 minute Victorian style lesson.
Group 2 go to areas of the museum relevant to the Victorian
curriculum and are given explanations with demonstrations
of the artefacts and how they were used (e.g. laundry, cooking)
d. Both groups then have 15 minutes playtime with hoops, stilts,
marbles, hopscotch, skipping ropes, etc.
e. Group 1 then goes into the museum while Group 2 have the
lesson in the schoolroom.
f. Those leaving at 12.30pm then have a short playtime until the
arrival of their transport or can look round the remainder of
the museum.
g. Those staying for lunch will have time for a rest after food,
a look round the museum and a further play period.
There
is a small shop in the museum selling toys and items of memorabilia.
It is suggested that, if they are allowed to shop,
they bring no more than £3.
